Replace Texture Extension 3ds Max Script

  • Replace texture file extensions (e.g., .dds to .tga, .tga to .jpg, etc.)
  • Fix missing textures by searching in a specified folder
  • Enable "Show Texture in Viewport" for all processed materials
  • 3ds max 2020+

Supports Standard 3ds Max Materials (Standard, Physical, MultiMaterial), V-Ray Materials, Arnold and Corona Materials,  Works with any map that uses standard filenames. Dynamically detects textures with filenames and replaces the extensions.

Installation

  1. Run from Scripting → Run Script (Or) Drag the .ms file into 3ds Max viewport.
  2. Create toolbar button.
  • Go to Customize → Customize User Interface
  • Select Category: "Animium Tools"
  • Drag "Replace Tex Ext" to your toolbar
  • Copy the icons (.bmp files) to [3ds max Root folder]\UI_ln\Icons and [3ds max Root folder]\UI_ln\IconsDark
